The audio sounds very unclean, but to hear these two songs together like this for the first time seems like two lovers destined to be with each other meeting for the first time and knowing that they are meant to be together for an eternity.

Despite the less-than-perfect sound, this is excellent.
Now go back one night for a bit of psychedelic history!

Sure the sound's a bit rough around the edges but it is an aud from 69.Is this actually the first China Rider?? Either way, it's excellent and well worth hearing. During the transition it sounds like they're heading into Greatest Story... which didn't yet exist.
Be sure to check out the previous night's show also at Cafe au Go-Go which has some phenomenal jams.

Horrendous sound, mix and pitch issues mar what would otherwise be another sloppy show from late '69. Interesting from an historical perspective, the band catching the "Baseball Fever" gripping NYC as the Miracle Mets come from eleven games back to overtake the Cubs for the National League East division title on the way to a championship. THIS IS FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE
actually, this is pretty nice sound quality ESPECIALLY for an AUD from 69. I've heard ALOT WORSE
but this is some intense shit, and this old dusty tape really captures the insanity of the dead at the time
the other one is a mind blower, great end to this short but sweet set

The music sounds good, the sound quality sounds like shows where you just realize you've had three too many beers and you really, really want to go home.

Occasionally the original type sound from the recordings of this band in particular adds some of the literally high feelings of the individuals who were there.
The I know you rider has just a hint of extra ordinary life to it .
Just because were in the 21st century dosen't mean we have to forget when we had records and tapes rather than cds and it didn't bother us so much when the other didn't exist.

C'mon now friends, there are lots of pristine recordings in the world, surely there's room for this kind of thing as well. I find this (and other "bad" AUD recordings) to be a HOOT to listen to. You gotta get in there and really use your ears (and your EQ) to appreciate this piece of American music history. Rather than complain about the nature of the recording, lets celebrate that this recording was made in the first place (what astounding foresight!), and revel that it has somehow survived lo these many years. And as always, raise a glass to Neal Cassady.

This is a very well-played show, but the AUD quality is pretty bad. Speed problems (Alligator sounds especially slow), hiss, and just plain muddiness really sink the appeal of this show, which wasn't really a killer in the first place (though the presence of the first China>Rider makes it historically interesting). Only for the completist or die-hard, though, or as filler.

The sound quality is bad, vocals barely audible, and it takes some effort to listen to. The thing is, it sounds like they were really on it that night. If the sound quality were beter, this might be one of my favorites. On a historical note, my information is that this is the first show they started out with China Cat Sunflower and jammed their way into I Know You Rider. It's interesting to listen to, it just takes some work. I think it could be a five star show but it's only one star audio.
